We combine bulbs in a flower bed correctly
Spring flower beds begin to be decorated in the fall, when bulbs are planted. There are a few simple tricks that will help you create picturesque and original compositions without any problems.
What to plant with peonies
Combine them with plants whose flowers are smaller than peonies. It is also important that the color combinations do not ruffle, but look harmonious. Therefore, burgundy peonies are best planted with decorative onions. Pink — are friends with thuja and barberry. Combine all light shades of peonies (including coral) with daylilies or irises. Heuchera will also work.
The season is another factor in creating compositions with peonies. For example, in spring peonies look beautiful with crocuses and daffodils, in summer with lilies and astilbes, in autumn with asters and dahlias.
What to plant with tulips
Tulips are the easiest flowers to create wonderful spring arrangements. They just have amazing compatibility with most bulbs. All thanks to the huge variety of varieties and shades.
Daffodils and hyacinths are favorites to pair with tulips. If you pay attention to color compatibility, then plant decorative onions and pansies with all light shades.
Another original compositional option with tulips is to plant them with tall plants, the flowering of which will begin much later. This refers to chrysanthemums, phloxes, gladioli and marigolds.
What to plant with irises
In the foreground, in a composition with irises, it is worth planting marigolds, pansies or forget-me-nots. Decorative cereals are used to create monochrome combinations. Also in mixed plantings with irises, tulips, heather, phlox, daffodils, lupins and nasturtium look good.
What to plant with lilies
Landscape designers advise planting lilies in «islands»: 3-5 or 7-9 plants of the same variety. This option looks good with tall shrubs, hedges, fences or walls.
Lilies look great in the company of roses, azaleas, barberries and various conifers. Herbaceous peony, hostas and bergenia are also suitable for such plantings.
What to plant with daffodils
It is good to plant daffodils in groups of 5-7 bulbs between perennials (geraniums, cuffs, hosts). Contrasting compositions are created by combining with blue sprouts, purple hyacinths, blue muscari.
Compositions do not have to be limited to only two types of spring flowers. The main thing is not to overdo it with shades.
