The earliest strawberries: an overview of early ripening varieties

It is necessary, using complex mineral fertilizers, to feed strawberries, not forgetting about watering. But it is impossible to cover the bushes in advance, because they can snag.

It is good to use mulching in order to protect the root system of the plant. For this purpose, suitable, for example, fallen leaves. It is recommended to mulch the soil a week after the air temperature is set at 0ºC. In the spring, the remains of the mulch are embedded in the soil, while loosening the root soil. Mulch, decomposing, warms the soil, releases moisture and becomes organic fertilizer.

The best ultra-early varieties of strawberries open the list. The berries of some varieties of this species ripen by mid-May. This variety is a remarkable victory for Dutch breeders. Kimberley, although not remontant, has a high yield. A feature of this plant are its berries — dense and very large — in the shape of a heart. They are not only beautiful, but also tasty, they emit a faint caramel aroma. Kimberley berries are sweet with a slight sourness. This plant has almost no small fruits.
