Many firms use the seed polishing method to increase flowability, reduce weight, and also facilitate the sowing process.

The seeds are then encrusted to provide protection from insects and disease.

Important! Encrusted seeds should not be soaked in water, as it can wash away the layer from the pesticide-treated seeds. Subsequently, the seed will again become defenseless against insects and diseases.  Only untreated seeds are soaked

The thing is that swollen seeds absorb the solution with less intensity, which contributes to better surface treatment of the planting material. Excess solution can be washed off with clean water.

Seeds are soaked for no more than 24 hours

When soaking seeds before sowing, you need to ensure that they are in water for no more than 24 hours. In this case, every 5-6 hours you should change the water.

Important! When using gauze or filter paper, make sure they are constantly moist. After all, even a slight drying of the seeds can lead to their death.

Also, wash the seed in water as often as possible to avoid seed fermentation.

Seed germination can be tested with gibberellin

Some vegetable crops are characterized by low germination in the first six months, but after 1-2 years, germination increases to 90-95%. Therefore, to check the germination of seeds, you can treat them with gibberellin.

Important! Use this preparation to improve the process of seed stratification.

To prepare this solution, take 0.2-1 g of gibberellin, 2-5 ml of alcohol and 1 liter of water. Treat the seeds with it, as well as the place of stratification from sawdust, sand and filter paper.
